INFORMATION: Do not close the discharge opening in the
cylinder body from the inside. Screw in the valve dummy
after positioning the cylinder body.
Position the cylinder body on the piston dummy. Perform the
mediolateral alignment of the exhaust opening depending on the
prosthetic alignment.
10) Isolate the heads of the cap screws with wax.
11) Fill the heads of the cap screws with Plastaband (see fig. 7).
12) Screw the valve dummy into the exhaust opening until the O-ring
closes the opening on the valve dummy (see fig. 8).
13) Close the slot in the valve dummy with Plastaband.
5.2 Fabricating the prosthetic socket
5.2.1 Optional: fabricating the check socket

Recommended materials:
ThermoLyn (e.g. 616T52* ThermoLyn
rigid, 616T83* ThermoLyn clear), 616S5* BetaSil
1) Prepare for fabrication of the prosthetic socket (see page 17).
2) Attach two strips of Plastaband lengthwise over the cylinder on
both the anterior and the posterior side. This makes it easier to
remove the cylinder after the trial fitting (see fig. 9).
3) Attach a strip of Plastaband circularly over the proximal edge of
the cylinder to seal the prosthetic socket (see fig. 9).
4) Complete the vacuum forming process.
5) Finish the prosthetic socket (see page 19).

If the prosthetic socket leaks:
seal the transition from the cylin
der body to the inside of the prosthetic socket with BetaSil.
5.2.2 Laminating the transtibial socket
INFORMATION
The layup described in this document was approved for the maxim
um product user body weight. The prosthetist assumes full respons
ibility for any change to the layup.

Required materials:
623T3=8 or 623T3=10 Perlon stockinette,
81A1=8 or 81A1=10 nylon stockinette, 616B1=25x* carbon fibre
cloth strap, 616G2 carbon UD stockinette, 616G15 carbon fibre

1) Prepare for fabrication of the prosthetic socket (see page 17).
2) Cut a piece of Perlon stockinette (twice the length of the plaster
model).
3) Pull the Perlon stockinette over the plaster model to the edge. Tie
off the second half of the Perlon stockinette and fold it over the
plaster model (see fig. 10).
4) Expose the valve dummy using a scalpel (see fig. 11).
5) Wrap string around the valve dummy and tie the Perlon stockin
ette off tightly in the distal groove of the cylinder body (see
fig. 12).

INFORMATION: Tie this off tightly so the prosthetic socket is
airtight after the lamination process.
Tie off the two layers of Perlon stockinette in the undercut of the
cylinder body so they are up against the cylinder body (see
fig. 13).
7) Position a layer of carbon fibre cloth strap from the medial con
dyle over the cylinder body to the lateral condyle (see fig. 14).
8) Position a layer of carbon fibre cloth strap from the MPT (mid-
patella-tendon) point over the cylinder body to the opening for the
back of the knee (see fig. 15).
9) Position a layer of carbon fibre cloth strap circularly at the height
of the MPT (mid-patella-tendon) point (see fig. 16).
10) Pull a nylon stockinette over the plaster model.
11) Expose the valve dummy.
12) Wrap string around the valve dummy and tie the nylon stockinette
off tightly in the distal groove of the cylinder body (see fig. 17).
13) Tie the nylon stockinette off tightly in the undercut of the cylinder
body with Perlon string (see fig. 18).
