This document provides technical information about the RGN-3GSF 2.7 Gb/s multi-protocol dual
transponder card, and procedures for installing, configuring, operating, and troubleshooting the card.
Functional description
The RGN-3GSF card is temperature hardened and hosts up to four pluggable SFP modules for economical
dense mounting. It can be configured to be one or two 4-port transponders, or up to four 2-port regenerators.
The RGN-3GSF provides alarm relay contacts, and status and configuration access via a faceplate graphic
display, touch pad controls, and LEDs.
As part of the Optelian suite of products, the card mounts in any active shelf and can be configured and
managed as a standalone device, or via the Optelian shelf or network management software. For managed
operation (installed a shelf with a management card), use the Optelian shelf manager (OSM) or Optelian
network manager (ONM) to configure, manage, monitor and troubleshoot the card.
Faceplate features
As shown in Figure 1, the RGN-3GSF card has the following faceplate features: card power and alarm
LEDs, configuration display and keypad function keys, four SFP ports, and transmit (P1, P3, P5, P7) and
receive (P2, P4, P6, P8) port LEDs for each SFP.
