The Interface A (DB-9) connector provides a +5 VDC auxiliary output (DC Out), a PWM input, an enable
input, and four status outputs. The user inputs, Laser Enable and PWM Positive/PWM Negative, enable
lasing and provide output power control. User outputs indicate v30 ready, lase, over temperature, and
input voltage status. PWM inputs are optoisolated; however, all other inputs and outputs operate using
standard 5V logic levels (0V – logic low; 5V – logic high). Both inputs and outputs are ESD protected but
are not optoisolated; all input signals sent to the laser must be clean or conditioned by the user.
Figure below illustrates the pin arrangement of the Interface A (9-pin female D-type subminiature)
connector on the OEM v30’s rear panel while the following table on the next page provides connection
descriptions.

Caution: Possible Equipment Damage
Turn off DC power before installing or removing any plug or cable from the Interface A (DB-9)
connector. Ensure that user connections are made to the appropriate pins and that the appropriate
signal levels are applied. Failure to do so may damage the laser.
