11. Click OK on the next dialog box then close Configuration Manager – DCM once that is done
Checking the Channels
Before running the system, always ensure that the channels are all active. This can be ascertained
by looking at the digital display on the rear metal bracket of the board. Under normal working
conditions, the display should stay constant on ‘00’ or ‘01’. If there is more than one card, then the
display will show the corresponding card number (02/03/04).
When the display changes to a number prefixed by the letter E, then that means either that port is
inactive or it is faulty. For example, if ports 7 and 8 were not activated (as dictated by the keycode),
then the display will scroll from 01
Æ
E7
Æ
E8
Æ
01… However, if all ports have been keycode-
activated but the display still shows an error port or ports, then that has to be investigated into.
Steps to take (in the order shown) when error ports appear are:
1. Restart the Dialogic Services
2. Check whether the Dialogic cable (the cable shown above) is securely fastened. Unplug
and then reconnect it to be certain.
Note:
Give the display a couple of seconds to refresh itself
3. Check that the programming of the affected digital port has been done correctly or whether
the corresponding digital line card is enabled
4. Shutdown the server, move the board to another PCI slot, restart server, wait for Dialogic
services to load (approximately 4 to 4
½
minutes), then check the display again
Should all the above steps fail to resolve the problem then it is very likely that the port is damaged.
Please contact your Nortel distributor to obtain a replacement board.
