Note:
It is essential that the chassis of the Nimbra 300 is properly
grounded.
All external equipment connected to the Nimbra 300 must be
connected to the same grounding point. This ensures that no
differences in electrical potential occur.
Grounding Procedures
Depending on the setup of the Nimbra 300 series switch the grounding
procedure may differ. However, equally important is that the chassis of the
switch, the rack and other external equipment are accurately grounded and have
the same electrical potential. It is recommended that the Nimbra 300 series
switch is mounted in a 19-inch rack.
If a cromated rack (recommended) is used the conditions for correct grounding
improves significantly.
If a coated or painted rack is used it is important that the connection between the
rack and the Nimbra 300 series switch chassis is accurate. This is done as
follows:
•
Connect a specific grounding cable between the chassis of the Nimbre 300
Series and the rack. (Use the grounding socket mounted near the power
supply inlet on the nimbra 300 series switch according to Figure 22.)
If no rack is used, make certain that the Nimbra 300 series switch chassis (and
the power source) is properly grounded.

Protective device
There must be a protective device or disconnect device in front of the unit, this is
to protect the power source. A readily accessible disconnect device shall be
incorporated in the building installation wiring. Use AWG12-18 UL and/or CSA
approved wire together with fuse or circuit braker rated max 4A slow-blow.
