Reviewing System Features 1-13
System Overview
Your computer hardware and software deliver the performance and
technologies you need for all your challenging tasks today and into the
future. See the following sections for information about your system’s
hardware, software, and security features.
Hardware
The PowerMate ES Series system includes the following hardware
features:
!
PC99 Compliance
All the hardware in the system has been certified by Microsoft
®
to be
PC99 compliant.
!
Processor
The system comes with an Intel
®
Celeron or Pentium
®
III processor
with either a 66-MHz, 100-MHz, or 133-MHz front-side bus (FSB).
(Processor speed depends on the system model.) These are fast,
powerful processors that lend themselves to intensive computational,
graphical, and engineering tasks.
!
Audio features
The system comes with sound integrated on the system board. The
chipset on the system board gives you a surround sound system for
three-dimensional sound effects — much like a live performance. It
also provides wavetable synthesis. (Wavetable synthesis uses actual
recordings of real sound effects and musical instruments for a
dynamic audio experience.)
!
Flashable ROM BIOS
The system’s ROM BIOS features system setup configuration, Plug
and Play support, and flash support for easy and economical BIOS
upgrades.
!
System memory
Your computer comes with at least 32 MB of non-parity synchronous
dynamic random access memory (SDRAM). It supports up to 256 MB
in each memory socket, for a total of up to 512 MB.
!
Power management options
The system comes with power management features that help you
conserve energy and reduce power costs.
