CRANK MECHANISM

Checking the crankshaft

Checking the crankshaft axial play

• Position the

Dial gauge [146]

(1) with the

Dial

gauge holder [147]

(2) and the

Locating pin [148]

on the crankshaft (3) with a preload

• Push the crankshaft (3) horizontally into the end

position towards the ywheel housing

• Zero the

Dial gauge [146]

(1)

• Pull the crankshaft (3) into the end position,

towards

Dial gauge [146]

(1), and read off the

difference

The permissible axial play on the crankshaft (3) is

0.200 – 0.401 mm

.

If the axial play is out of tolerance, install
suitable thrust washers,

see Glyco thrust washer

dimensions, 335

.

Checking the crankshaft radial play

• Position the

Dial gauge [146]

(1) with the

Dial

gauge holder [147]

(3) and

Locating pin [148]

on

the crankshaft (2) with a preload

• Push the crankshaft (2) into the limit position,

towards

Dial gauge [146]

(1)

• Zero the

Dial gauge [146]

(1)

• Pull the crankshaft (2) in the opposite direction
The permitted radial play on the crankshaft (2) is

0.060 – 0.128 mm

.

If the radial play is out of tolerance, check the outside
diameter of the crankshaft bearing journal and the
inside diameter of the crankshaft bearing.
