STEP 1
Connect the smart tester
Turn the ignition ON
Initialise the diagnostic tool
Record the DTC and clear
Turn ignition OFF
Turn ignition ON
Verify if P0481 is present?
Is P0481 present?
Intermittent problem exists
Refer the intermittent problem
inspection procedure

Ignition OFF
Ensure the changeover relay and
cooling fan 2 relay are fixed
properly in the connector of the
relay box
Remove the relays
Check the functioning of relays
by providing 12V to terminal 86
and ground to terminal 85
Is a clicking sound
heard?
Replace the malfunctioning
relay/s with a new one
Clear the DTC and verify
Is the continuity
exists?
Examine the open circuit of of
the respective relay control wire
from EMS ECU
Replace the wiring harness
Clear the DTC and verify
Ignition OFF
Ensure battery voltage is
available at relay seating of pin
86 and 30 of the relay
EMS ECU wiring harness
connector (C4) DISCONNECTED
Remove the changeover relay
and cooling fan 2 relay
Check the continuity between
pin 85 of the fan high speed
relay seating and pin 68 of the
EMS ECU wiring harness
connector
Suspect EMS ECU malfunction
Replace EMS ECU with a new
one.
Check and verify for any new
DTC’s
