Connect the smart tester
Turn the ignition  ON
Initialise the diagnostic tool
Record the DTC and clear
Turn ignition  OFF
Turn ignition ON
Verify if   P0004 is present?

Is  P0004 present?

Intermittent problem exists
Refer the intermittent problem 
inspection procedure

STEP 2

Ignition OFF
Fuel metering unit wiring 
harness connector (C35) 
DISCONNECTED

Check the resistance   between 
pin 1 and pin 2   of fuel metering 
unit wiring harness connector 

I

Is the continuity 

exists?

Examine the short circuit of  fuel 
metering unit  control wire  with 
battery positive
Replace the wiring harness
Clear the DTC and verify

Suspect fuel metering unit 
internal failure  
Replace  high pressure fuel 
pump with a new one.
Check and verify for any new 
DTC’s
