STEP 1
Connect the smart tester
Turn the ignition ON
Initialise the diagnostic tool
Record the DTC and clear
Turn ignition OFF
Turn ignition ON
Verify if P172A is present?
Is P172A present?
Intermittent problem exists
Refer the intermittent problem
inspection procedure
STEP 2
Ignition OFF
Clutch sensor wiring harness
connector (C250)
DISCONNECTED
Ignition ON
Check the voltage between pin
5 (90% signal) of the clutch
sensor wiring harness
connector and battery ground
Is the value > 0.5 V?
Examine the short circuit in
clutch sensor 90 % signal wire
to battery
Replace the wiring harness
Clear the DTC and verify
If the DTC still exists, suspect
EMS ECU.
Replace the EMS ECU with a
new one

malfunction
Replace the Clutch sensor
Clear the DTC and verify
