Connecting the SmartDGA System
In order for the DGA Commissioning Tool to communicate with the SmartDGA EZHub
TM
, you must
set up your SmartDGA EZHub to connect via Ethernet/IP or by RS485 COM. Check to ensure all
necessary cables and/or adapters are properly connected.
If using a PC, you will also need to verify that the firewall is turned off and that it is set to a static IP
address that is slightly different than the connected EZHub. For example, you might have your
computer IP address set to 192.168.0.10 and the EZHub IP address set to 192.168.0.8. Use the
information below for reference (

Use hub/switch
between the
i

and EZHubs***
* Leave Gateway Address blank if unsure. Incorrect address will cause the unit not to function.
** A maximum of 3 EZHubs are supported for protocols (DNP3, Modbus, and IEC61850).
*** A network switch is preferred. A hub is acceptable if installed on a standalone network. If connected to a
corporate network without a switch (to route appropriately), the network traffic will overwhelm.
Notes:
•
Duplicate IP addresses are not allowed on the same network.
•
Duplicate EZHub Board IDs are not allowed on the same
i
Core/PC
•
Duplicate SmartDGA Instrument IDs are not allowed on the same
i
Core/PC
(If the instrument on the LTC or TRF side is not present in the current
configuration, the checkbox for this instrument should be unchecked in the DGA
Commissioning Tool. Default addresses may be kept for the not present
instrument. If the instrument will be added to configuration later, modify the
address at that time).
•
If using Ethernet for communication between the EZHub(s) and iCore/PC, a
dedicated private network is recommended.
