3. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

FA5000 CVR software processes incoming analog audio data to digital format and pro-
vides large capacity digital memory storage. The software provides built-in test functionali-
ty that automatically performs checks of the hardware and software to indicate whether
the system is operating normally. The recording medium is protected by a crash-surviv-
able enclosure capable of withstanding environmental requirements set forth in ED-112.

The unit interfaces to Ground Support Equipment (GSE) via industry-standard network
protocols (Ethernet, Wireless), with the GSE operator interface via an ordinary web
browser. The browser interface also offers monitoring of real-time data and other system
functions.

The following is a list of the inputs and outputs for the CVR systems. See Figure 3 – CVR
Block Diagram,for the inputs and outputs of each recorder type.
