7.
If this Eyewitness
®
HD system is an MDC-only system, it includes a small dedicated
controller to be used with the MDC for critical functions: Power, Record and Stop. This
controller acts as a back-up should the computer fail or be removed, or is needed for
some other function.
Figure 7-5.
MDC Controller
a. Connect the control cable from the DVR to the small MDC controller.
b. Use the supplied hook and loop tape to mount the MDC controller in a location
convenient to the operator.
Note: If this system includes dual control, that is MDC control plus the 7” tablet
controller, the small MDC controller is not included.
8.
Connect the red/white wire on the accessory cable to a contact that gets 12 volts when
the vehicle’s ignition is On, and no voltage when the ignition is Off. The MDC-controlled
system must be able to sense the ignition to power on and off. Leave the vehicle’s
ignition off until the rest of the installation has been completed.
IMPORTANT
The red/white wire on the accessory cable is a required
connection.
Note: If the system also includes wireless or wired file transfer, a power-off delay is
normally implemented that will allow the ignition to be turned off, and files to be
transferred before the system shuts down. Turning the ignition off will start that
power-off delay.
a. With the vehicle’s ignition turned On, the small MDC controller (if included) can
turn system power on and off.
b. If the system is configured so that ignition is the only source of power up, the
MDC Controller Power button cannot be used to turn on the system if ignition is
turned off.
