Faults - Causes and Elimination
11.1 Special Notes on Safety
•
Repair, care, maintenance and cleaning work may only be carried out when the machine
is at a standstill. Switch off the engine and remove the ignition key.
•
Secure the round baler and the tractor from rolling away.
•
When the tail gate is open, secure it from lowering with the shut-off tap.
•
On completion of repair, care and maintenance work remount all protective plates and
protective devices properly.
•
Avoid skin contact with oil and grease.
•
In case of injury caused by oil, seek medical attention immediately.
11.2 Tabular List of Faults, their Causes and Elimination
Possible Cause
Reversing valve in the wrong position
Compensation springs on the pick up are
set too rigidly
Pick up bearings are difficult to turn
Non-uniform height or swaths too large.
Too great a forward speed.
Machine hitched too high at the front.
Compression rake/baffle plate set loo low.
The crop is only collected with a
compression rake.
Distance between the roller and the
elevator chain is too great.
The chain is not sufficiently well oiled and
shortens, thereby increasing the distance
between the roller and the elevator chain.
Elimination
Put the reversing valve in the pick up
position
Set the compensation springs such that
only the pick up is lowered
Oil the bearings
Split the swaths
Reduce the forward speed. Drive more
slowly at the start of the baling process
until the crop collected rolls into the bale
chamber.
Check the setting of the swinging draw
bar. Lower at the front if necessary.
Set the compression rake/baffle plate
higher.
Drive with a baffle plate as well.
Shift the roller to reduce the distance.
Oil the elevator chain.
Fault
Pick up will not lower
Blockages in the input
area.
In case of blockages
stop immediately and
switch off the PTO
shaft, as otherwise the
roller panel bars and
the binding
mechanism may be
damaged. Eliminate
blockages.
Short crops are not
collected properly.
The crop falls out
between the roller
and the roller panel
chain during the
baling process.
