It is in ter esting to note that with the
SAMPLING DELAY
con trol knob at
po si ti on 1 or 2 the iron sheet can be de tec ted at very good depth, whi le
at po si ti on 3 or 4 a cle ar drop is shown. Many iron con tai ner lids and
ot her small ob jects made of non-pre ci ous me tals (e.g. lead) as well as
even lar ge alu mi ni um foils can be com ple te ly re jec ted at the se po si -
tions.
With ob jects made of (highly) con duc ti ve me tals like cop per and espe -
ci al ly pre ci ous me tals like gold or sil ver, you will lose much less de tec -
tion depth (de pen ding on size of ob ject). The rea son for this is that the
de cay of the eddy cur rents in the se me tals ta kes a lot more time. So if
you are loo king for lar ge non-fer rous ob jects (espe ci al ly pre ci ous me -
