Preparing for a measurement
Selecting measurement mode
Procedure
1
Press the
MODE
hard key and then select the
Single Layout
tab.

Double-tap the
RF Power
icon.
Connecting a power sensor
Connecting an external power sensor is mandatory for power measurements in the RF
Power Meter mode. There are two kinds of external power sensors: directional or terminating.
You can choose one depending on the type of transmission power signal to be measured.

“RF power sensors” on page 169 for available options.
Procedure
1
Plug in your external power sensor to one of the
USB Host
ports or to the
Serial
port of the
JD720C series as needed, depending on the type of the power sensor.
The instrument detects and initializes it automatically and displays its model number and type.

If you connect either of the JD72450551 and JD72450552 serial power sensors, tap the
Initialize
button on the screen to proceed with initializing your connected power sensor manually.

Optional
. To check the connected power sensor
’s device information such as model number, type,
serial number, and FW version, complete the following steps:

Press the
SETUP
hard key and then touch the
Device Information
tab.
The Device Information window appears as shown in

Tap the
Cancel
button to exit.
