5. Hold the handles at each side of the
battery box, lift the front end to un-
hook the hook plate, then slide the
battery box forwards to disengage the
rear support flange and lower it to the
ground.
6. Remove the battery retaining strap and
take out the battery.

To fit a new or recharged battery:
1. Put the new or recharged battery back
into its box.
2. Fit the securing strap and tighten the
nuts, DO NOT over tighten.
3. Lift the battery box up beneath the
footstep and slide it towards the rear
of the footstep so that the support
flange fits between the footstep and
the footstep rear bracket (5). Lift the
front end and locate the hook plate into
the front edge of the footstep (6).
4. Insert and tighten the front (7) and rear
(8) battery box bolts.
5. Reconnect the battery cables, POSI-
TIVE first then the NEGATIVE (earth)
cables on both batteries.
6. Refit the cover plates on the footsteps.

To remove the battery:
1. Unscrew the battery box door and re-
move.
2. Slide the battery out onto the steps.
3. Disconnect the NEGATIVE (earth) ca-
bles from the batteries at both sides
of the tractor.
4. Disconnect the POSITIVE cable from
the battery that is to be removed.
5. Remove the battery.

Using booster batteries
Warning
The engine can start with the
transmission in gear if the safety start
switches are by-passed.
