1. To drain the cooling system remove the
radiator cap slowly to allow any pres-
sure to escape.
2. Open the drain tap or plug on the bot-
tom of the radiator (Fig. 32).

3. Remove the the drain plug from the
cylinder block (Fig. 33).
4. On engine (Fig. 34) drain the lubricat-
ing oil cooler by disconnecting the
hose on the cooler. (On ITM 485)
5. If the old coolant is very dirty flush out
the system with clean water.
6. Replace the plug, close the tap and
reconnect the hose if removed. Refill
the radiator with clean rain water if
available.
7. Run the engine for approximately five
minutes to remove all air from the
system. Check the coolant level and
add coolant if needed.

Antifreeze solutions must be added to
the cooling system water. Use Universal
Antifreeze, available from ITMCO Dealer,
who will advise you of the correct propor-
tions of antifreeze mixture to suit your
climatic conditions. The dry ice point in
the following table (See table 4-5) can be
regarded as the safe limit temperature for
a given concentration of antifreeze/water
solution. See ‹Capacities› page 103 for the
capacity of your cooling system.
