Preparing to Add Options
Before You Begin
Ÿ
Become familiar with the safety and handling guidelines
specified under “Safety Information” on page v and “Handling
Static-Sensitive Devices” on page 20. These guidelines will help
you work safely while working with your expansion unit.
Ÿ
Make sure you have an adequate number of properly grounded
electrical outlets for your expansion unit, server, monitor, and
any other options you intend to install.
Ÿ
Place your system in a location that is dry. Rain or spilled
liquids might damage your expansion unit.
Ÿ
Back up all important data before you make changes to storage
devices, such as hard disk drives.
If you are installing the expansion unit in a rack, be sure that the
rack provides adequate space around the expansion unit to allow
the expansion unit cooling system to work properly. Refer to the
documentation that comes with the rack.
