Preparing the Expansion Unit
This section explains how to prepare the expansion unit for
installation by removing the internal drives and setting the interface
options.
Expansion Unit Preparation Information
It is easier to lift the expansion unit and set it onto the support rails
in the rack if you remove all customer replaceable units (CRUs) first.
A fully loaded expansion unit weighs approximately 39 kg (86 lb).
If you remove all the CRUs, you can reduce the overall weight. For
information about removing CRUs, go to Chapter 4, “Installing and
Replacing Devices” on page 35.
The following are CRUs in your expansion unit.
Up to ten drives
Two power supplies
Two fan units

CAUTION:
Use safe lifting practices when lifting your machine.
Note: The expansion unit is shipped with the decorative bezel
attached to the front of the unit with two white screws and
nuts in order to protect the light pipes located above the
trays. Leave the decorative bezel in place until you are ready
to mount the unit in the rack.
