When Switch 1 is OFF (or down), the five disk drives of internal
SCSI bus 1 have the SCSI addresses of 0–4 and the five disk drives
of the internal SCSI bus 2 have the SCSI addresses of 8–12. With
this switch setting, however, the controller sees SCSI bus 1 and SCSI
bus 2 as a single SCSI bus. The System-management SCSI Accessed
Fault Tolerant Enclosure (SAF-TE) processor has the SCSI addresses
14 and 15.
When Switch 1 is ON (or up), two independent internal SCSI buses
are created. Each bus supports up to five disk drives. External
SCSI bus 1 maps to internal SCSI bus 1 and external SCSI bus 2
maps to internal SCSI bus 2. The five disk drives of internal SCSI
bus 1 have the SCSI addresses of 0–4 and the five disk drives of
internal SCSI bus 2 have SCSI addresses of 0–4. In each case, the
system-management processor for each SCSI bus has SCSI address
15.
There is also a Tray Number switch on the back of the expansion
unit. Use this switch to name the expansion unit. The rotary switch
allows you to dial a number from 0–9, which names the expansion
box. System-Management software, such as IBM Netfinity Manager,
uses this number when it provides data and alerts on the expansion
unit.
