Disconnecting Expansion Units
Before disconnecting any units, perform the following steps:
1. If the machine is running, perform a system shutdown first. For further information about
the shutdown procedure, refer to the shutdown command in your operating system
documentation.
2. Turn off the system by pushing the power On/Off button on the operator panel.

3. Make sure the power switches for all external devices connected to the system unit are
set to Off.
4. Unplug the power cord to all external devices connected to the system unit.
5. Unplug the power cord to all system units.

CAUTION:
Before attempting to disconnect the units, ensure that the preliminary operations
detailed above have been performed correctly to prevent a possible hazard.
6. Ensure that the outlets needed to connect the designated units are near the system and
quite visible.
7. For each unit that you are disconnecting, remove the rear cover following the procedure
on page 4-8.
8. Disconnect the RS-485 cable from the expansion unit. Disconnect the cable from the
base unit. Refer to the procedure for the RS-485 card on page 4-40.
9. Disconnect the SCSI cable from the disk unit and then from the base unit.
10.Move the expansion unit.
