5 – Preventive maintenance

Preventive maintenance

5.

Cut the nonstick scouring pad in half. Put 1 half of the pad in each end of the cylinder. Put 1 thumb in each end of the
cylinder on top of the pad and press down. Press evenly on the pad while rolling the cylinder forward and backward.

Fold or cut the lapping paper to make 2 pieces, each approximately 3 cm (1-1/4 inches) wide
by 8 cm (3-1/4 inches) long.

7.

Put the lapping paper into the ends of the cylinder with the abrasive side touching the cylinder.

8.

Repeat the rolling procedure with the lapping paper.

9.

Clean the inside of the cylinder thoroughly with a lint-free towel and isopropyl alcohol.

10.

When all maintenance tasks are complete, reassemble the parts. Refer to page 111 for instructions.

CAUTION

Debris left in the cylinder can cause the seals or the poppets to fail.

Do not use soap, detergent, or solvents.
