5.2.6 Inserting the membrane(s)
Before installing the membranes in the mem-
brane container, it must be ensured that the
feed water line is closed and thus no pres-
sure is applied.
» Only remove the upper container
heads: Loosen the locking plates
(keep the fixing screws in a safe
place).
» Remove the closures and pay atten-
tion to pipes or seals. Make a note of
the position of the locking plates.
» Remove the protective cover of the
osmosis membrane (with sterile
gloves) without damaging the mem-
brane. Do not remove the protective
plastic film adhering to the osmosis
membrane! This can be recognised
by the printed flow direction arrows.
» Wet the seal of the osmosis mem-
brane and the pegs at the ends with
silicone fat if necessary.
» Insert the membranes into the con-
tainer as shown; pay attention to the
position/direction of the seal. Make
sure that the lip seal is not dam-
aged.
» Reassemble the top caps of the con-
tainers in the correct position and
secure them with the metal plates.
Check that the screw connection.
» Re-attach the connectors to the
lower part of the containers.
» Make sure that there are no abnor-
mal tensions on the lines or connec-
tions.
Use disposable gloves when installing the
pre-filter(s) and membrane(s) to protect them
from contamination.

Maximum permitted storage time of the
membranes:
• 6 months: if the membranes are sup-
plied already impregnated with a chem-
ical solution and/or glycol
• 1 year: if the membranes are delivered
dry or vacuum packed.
Store the membranes at temperatures
between 0 and 35 °C.
Before connecting the system to the power
supply, it is mandatory to follow the steps
described in the chapter
Initial start-up.
