3.6 Adding a Mapping
Mapping a LUN to the host or the host group. Then, the host or the host group gains specified
storage resources.
Prerequisite
CAUTION
When you set up the two-node system cluster environment, note that the LUN used for the cluster
can only be mapped to the host group which the cluster belongs to.
After creating a host group and adding hosts to the host group, you can map a LUN to a host or
the host group.
NOTE
Before mapping a LUN, ensure that the LUN has not been mapped before. A LUN can be mapped only
once. You can add mappings of multiple LUNs to a host or a host group.
The two methods of adding mappings are compared as follows:
l
When a mapping is added for a host group, all the hosts in the host group share this LUN.
l
When a mapping is added for a host, only the host can use this LUN.
NOTE
l
For the default host group of the system, you can map a LUN to the host group instead of any host in
the host group.
l
This system supports up to 2048 mappings.
Adding a mapping occupies a system license. See the following details:
l
Adding a mapping for the default host group does not occupy a system license.
l
Adding a mapping for other host groups and hosts occupies one system license only at the
first time. If all the mappings on the host group or host are deleted, the system automatically
frees up the occupied license.
l
In initial state, the system provides 8 license. If you have consumed all of them, contact
Huawei for purchase.
Procedure
Step 1
On the OSM3.0 main interface, click
Mapping
. In the
Mapping
navigation tree, click a host
group or host. The interface showing the information about the host group or the host is displayed.
This section describes how to add a mapping to a host. See
Figure 3-11
