3.12.2 Linux AS
Steps to enable CHAP authentication on a Linux AS.
Prerequisite
Take SLES9 SP3 as an example. You can perform the following steps to set up a connection
from the AS to an iSCSI host port on the controller. For other Linux operating systems, adjust
the operation process according to the actual conditions.
Procedure
Step 1
Log in to the AS as the user root.
Step 2
Enter the command
vi /etc/iscsi.conf
, and then edit the
iscsi.conf
file. Set the
Username
and
Password
parameters that is in front of the address of the target who uses CHAP authentication.
The interface is displayed as follows:
Username=CHAP_user1
Password=112233445566
DiscoveryAddress=192.168.1.18
NOTE
l
If the CHAP authentication is enabled, you need to add the values of Username and Password, for
example, Username=CHAP_user1 and Password=112233445566. For details on the CHAP user, see
"
3.11.1 Creating a CHAP User
".
l
When you use CHAP authentication on an AS in Linux, the user name and password must be added
before DiscoveryAddress. Otherwise, when the target requires CHAP authentication, the initiator
refuses the connection.
Step 3
Enter the command
:wq
to save the setting and exit the file editing interface.
Step 4
Enter the command
/etc/init.d/iscsi restart
to restart the iSCSI services.
