Using Windows 3.x

The following procedure reinstalls Windows for Workgroups 3.11 or installs
Windows 3.1, and configures appropriate device drivers.

Requirements

♦

OmniBook 2000/5700.

♦

MS-DOS 6.22 disks.

♦

Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups 3.11 disks.

♦

OmniBook 2000/5700 Windows 3.x Driver Setup Program.
Location: Recovery CD in \OMNIBOOK\WFW_DRV. Copy this program to four
disks or install it from the CD-ROM.

♦

OmniBook Support Utility Disk is required if you install from CD-ROM.

Note

If you chose Windows for Workgroups 3.11 during the initial setup of the
OmniBook 2000/5700, you can make copies of the MS-DOS and Windows for
Workgroups Disks from the Hard Drive. When Windows starts for the first time, it
asks you to make these disks, or you can click the Make OmniBook Installation
Disks icon in the OmniBook group.

Before you Start

•

This installation assumes you have the default HP Windows for Workgroups
3.11 or Windows 95 build on the hard drive. If you have repartitioned the hard
disk drive, please follow the procedure in the Power Management chapter to
create the hibernation partition. Reformatting the hard drive before installing
MS-DOS and Windows ensures a clean installation.
