Installing Windows 3.x

To install Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups 3.11

This section is not intended to replace your Windows documentation. Please refer
to your Windows documentation for specific instructions.

1. Insert the Windows Setup Disk 1.

2. Type A:\SETUP at the MS-DOS prompt.

3. Follow the instructions as they appear.

Important

If you are installing Windows for Workgroups, do

not

install networking at this

time. Follow the instructions in the application note for the network card you
are using. Application notes are available on the HP website at:
http://www.hp.com/go/omnibook.

To install Windows 3.x device drivers

This procedure edits your AUTOEXEC.BAT, CONFIG.SYS, CONTROL.INI,
PROGMANN.INI, WIN.INI, and SYSTEM.INI to support OmniBook 2000/5700 devices
and creates a backup of the original files. This program will install device driver
support for:

•

Video.

•

Sound.

•

SCSI.

•

PC card with CardBus and Zoomed Video support.

•

Mouse.

•

Power management.

•

CD-ROM drive.

•

Infrared (Windows for Workgroups only).

Requirements

OmniBook 2000/5700 with Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups 3.11
installed.

♦

OmniBook 2000/5700 Windows 3.x Driver Setup Program.
Location: Recovery CD in \OMNIBOOK\WFW_DRV. Copy this program to four
disks or install it from the CD-ROM.
