HP Netserver AA Solution Administrator’s Guide
Overview
The Endurance server is a fully redundant, fault tolerant server that provides continuous
computing and redundant I/O devices for your Windows server and its applications.
You can monitor and manage your Endurance server using Endurance Manager, a GUI-based
Endurance management application. Using Endurance Manager, you can:
•
View the status of an Endurance server and its components. This includes the CEs, IOPs,
MICs, interconnects, and all redirected devices.
•
Issue commands to manage the Endurance server and its components, including enabling
and disabling components.
•
Access statistics about the Endurance server, including Ethernet counters.
•
Determine the status of the Endurance server’s mirrored disks, including the direction of
any pending mirror copies, and if a mirror copy is in progress, the percentage of
completion.
•
Access the Endurance Configuration Utility and Windows administration tools. Refer to
Chapter 6
for information about the Endurance Configuration Utility.
•
Access the Endurance Events Utility. Refer to
Chapter 7
for information about using the
MTCCLOG tool to view Endurance events.
•
View certain Endurance messages that display as they occur in a window on the GUI.
Messages displayed on the GUI pertain only to the monitoring of the Endurance server;
messages related to changes in the state of the server do not display on the GUI.
•
Administer your Endurance server from a remote workstation using either a local area
network connection or Microsoft’s Remote Access Server (RAS).
Note:
You can also install the Endurance online manuals on a remote workstation.
For detailed information about the Endurance Manager, refer to
Chapter 4
.
Refer to
Endurance Release Notes Release 4.0
for details about the versions of Windows that
are supported by this release of the Endurance software. The requirements for copies of the
Windows operating system follow.
•
Each CE requires a licensed copy of the Windows operating system. The CE operating
system offers access to redirected I/O devices, including mirrored (redundant) disks. As a
result, you need to use the CE operating system to run all server applications and to
perform all Windows administrative tasks.
