Driving and Operating
Activation
After the ignition is switched on,
when reverse gear is selected the
rear parking assist is automatically
activated.
Indication
The system warns the driver with
acoustic signals or, if equipped and
enabled, may pulse the driver's seat
when potentially hazardous objects
are detected behind the vehicle at a
distance of approximately
2.5 metres while reverse gear is
engaged.
The acoustic signals continue as the
vehicle moves closer to the object.
When the distance is approximately
30 cm, the frequency of the signals
increases. If equipped and enabled,
the driver's seat will pulse in lieu of
the acoustic signal.
Additionally, the distance to rear
objects is displayed by changing
distance lines in the Driver
Information Centre (DIC). The
distance indication can be inhibited
by vehicle messages with a higher
priority. After dismissing the
message, distance indication
appears again if applicable.
Deactivation
Press
X
on the centre console.
The system remains deactivated
during the ignition cycle or until
X
is pressed again.
When the system is deactivated, the
LED in the button extinguishes and
Park Assist Off pops-up in the
Driver Information Centre (DIC).
Fault
In the event of a fault or if the
system does not operate
temporarily, e.g. because of high
external noise level or other
interference factors, the LED in the
button flashes for three seconds
and then extinguishes. A message
is indicated in the DIC.
Front-Rear Parking Assist
For vehicles equipped with
front-rear parking assist (PA), the
system measures the distance
between the vehicle and objects in
front of and behind the vehicle.
It informs and warns the driver by
giving a display indication and
acoustic signals or if equipped and
enabled, may pulse the
driver's seat.
