R em ove the forcing screw from J 33020 P uller and with
the puller tangs still engaged in the rotor slots, invert the
assem bly onto a solid flat surface or blocks as show n in
Figure 17.
6. D rive the bearing out o f the rotor hub with R otor Bearing
R em over J 9 3 9 8 -A and J 29886 U niversal H andle (Fig.
17
).
It is not necessary to rem ove the staking in front o f the
bearing to rem ove the bearing, how ever, it will be
necessary to file away the old stake m etal (Fig. 20) for
proper clearance for the new bearing to be installed into
the rotor bore or the bearing may be dam aged.

Install or Connect
Place the Pulley R otor on the J 2 1 3 5 2 -A S upport Block
to fully support the rotor hub during bearing installation
(Fig. 18).
Do not
support the rotor by resting the pulley
rim on a flat surface during the bearing installation or the
rotor face will be bent.
A lign the new bearing squarely w ith the hub bore and
using Puller and Bearing Installer J 9 4 8 1-A with
Universal H andle J 29886, drive the bearing fully into
hub (Fig. 18). The Installer will apply force to the outer
race o f the bearing if used as shown.
Place Bearing Staking G uide J 33019-1 and Bearing
Staking Pin J 33 0 1 9 -2 in the hub bore as show n in F igure
19. Shift the rotor and bearing assem bly on the
J 2 1352-A Support B lock to give full support o f the hub
under the staking pin location. A heavy duty rubber band
may be used to hold the stake pin in the guide (Fig. 19),
and the stake pin should be properly positioned in the
guide alter each im pact on the pin.
4. Using care to prevent personal injury, strike the staking
pin with a ham m er until a m etal stake, sim ilar to the
original, is form ed dow n to, but not touching, the
bearing. Stake three (3) places 120° apart as show n in
Figure 20.
NOTICE:
The stake m etal should not contact the
outer race of the bearing to prevent the possibility o f
distorting the outer race.
5. With the com pressor m ounted to the J 2 5 0 0 8 -A H olding
Fixture, position the R otor and Bearing A ssem bly on the
front head (Fig. 21). U sing R otor and B earing Installer J
9 4 8 1-A and U niversal H andle J 29886 drive the rotor
and bearing assem bly onto the front head. W ith the
Installer assem bled to the H andle as show n in F igure 21,
force will be applied to the inner race o f the bearing w hen
installing the assem bly onto the front head o f the
compressor.
6. Install rotor and bearing assem bly retainer ring, using
Snap Ring Pliers J 6083 (Fig. 8).
7. Reinstall clutch plate and hub assem bly as described
previously.
