Chapter 4:
The Web Interface
Introduction to SC-IP Web Management
In addition to the command line interface at the Craft and Telnet interfaces, SC-IP provides access
to a web interface through its integral HTTP server. This server allows authorized users to view or
change SC-IP configuration and operation parameters in a streamlined logical format via their
popular web browsers.
Web Management Requirements
1. Minimum browser requirements are as follows:
•
Netscape Communicator Versions 4.5 through 5.x are supported.
•
Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher.
•
Java 1.1 must be enabled.
•
Cookies must be enabled
Note
At the terminal or craft interface, you can toggle
http disable/enable
to clear all cookies.
Note
SC-IP uses Java 1.1. If your Browser is Netscape 6.0, Java will not be supported.
You will need to acquire a Java plug-in in order to make a web connection with SC-IP.
2. Via the Telnet or the Craft interface, SC-IP must be configured for web management
using the ADMIN commands that:
•
enable the http interface.
•
configure user accounts by entering names, passwords and
read/write permissions for any authorized users.
3. Via the Craft or Telnet interface, SC-IP must be configured with an IP address and mask in
order to satisfy the IP link and SNMP control. This allows a connection to the SC-IP web
interface via the Ethernet LAN or T1 (WAN) connection.
4. SC-IP permits up to eight authorized users and supervisors in simultaneous web management
sessions. If eight sessions are in progress, any additional users will be denied access.
