GDL 90 Installation Manual

Command Description

---- wait about 10 seconds for all of the startup self-tests to complete, then proceed with:

Type "external"

This shows the status of the external interfaces.

Type "service"

This displays any internal problems that the GDL 90 has
detected.

If there are problems with the GDL 90 getting a GPS fix, continue:

Type "gps"

This starts displaying the status of the GDL 90 internal GPS
receiver.

The "gps" command outputs a GPS status message every second. If the satellite visibility is poor, or this
is the first startup, it may take as long as 20 minutes to get a first fix. While the GPS data is being
captured, you can observe the MX20 or GSL 71 display (if equipped), or the green GPS LED on the
GDL 90 front to see if a GPS fix is found.

When you have collected at least 5 minutes of data, end the HyperTerminal data collection as follows:

At the HyperTerminal menu bar, click on Transfer

-

Highlight “Capture Text”, then slide the mouse over and click on "Stop"

HyperTerminal will now give you two warning boxes. The first one asks if you want to disconnect. Click
on Yes. The second warning asks if you want to save your session "GDL90". Click on Yes.

Note:

The next time you restart HyperTerminal, this session name will show up in the

HyperTerminal folder, and you can start up using that session name instead of manually entering
the port settings again.

Now send the file "Capture Nxxxx.txt" from the Desktop folder to the Technical Support email address
([email protected]). You will need to either connect the computer to the internet, or move the
file from the desktop to a computer with email access.
