GDL 90 Installation Manual

Be prepared to offer the following information about the installation:

•

Installation configuration (list of any accessories)

•

Model number, part number with mod levels, and serial number

•

Software Versions

•

Description of problem

•

Efforts made to isolate the problem

Technical support via email is available at the following email address: [email protected].

Use the following procedure to collect diagnostic information from the GDL 90 Maintenance port.
Attach the data file to your email.

How to Start a HyperTerminal Text Capture File

A HyperTerminal text capture file records the data as it is shown on the screen. Proceed as follows:

1.

Connect HyperTerminal to the GDL 90 Maintenance port. See Section 4.2.1 for detailed
procedure.

2.

On the HyperTerminal main menu bar, click on "Transfer", and then "Capture Text…".

3.

Click on the Browse button, and a "Select Capture File" dialog box will open.

4.

Click on the "Desktop" folder (that's the easiest place to store a file temporarily).

5.

In the File Name box, type in a file name such as "Capture Nxxxx", where Nxxxx is the aircraft's
tail number.

6.

Click on "Save".

7.

You are now back at the Capture Text dialog box. Click on "Start".

Now all of the data displayed by HyperTerminal will be stored in the file on your computer's Desktop.

How to Collect GDL 90 Information for Tech Support

Position the aircraft so that it can see the GPS satellites, well away from any major structures.

Now, type-in the commands in the table below. Wait a few seconds for the display to stop between
commands. Press the <enter> key after each command. Don't include the quote marks, those are just
shown for clarity. The information in the right side of the table gives a more detailed description of the
commands.

You can press the <enter> key at any time to show the command prompt.

Command Description

Type "reset"

This restarts the GDL 90 so that all of the startup messages
are captured.

--- wait several seconds until all the startup messages are finished.

Press <enter> key

Gives ‘>’ command prompt

Type "version"

This shows all of the software and hardware version
numbers.

Type "apmread"

This shows all of the APM configuration settings.
