4.2.2.10 Loader command

The “

loader

” command is used to restart the GDL 90 in data loader mode. This is only used when

installing new software or features as instructed in a service bulletin.

4.2.2.11 Playaudio Command

The “

playaudio

” command causes the GDL 90 to output a 1 kHz tone. This allows for testing the audio

connections in the aircraft. The command takes a parameter of the number of seconds to play the tone. If
no parameter is given, the tone plays for 2 seconds.

The audio volume level is adjusted using the “Audio Volume” parameter in the APM. A setting of 20 to
25 is typical, but should be adjusted as necessary for each installation. Since the audible traffic alerts are
played at a lower volume than the test tone, the APM Audio Volume setting should be increased slightly
(approximately 5 points) above the level found using the test tone.

4.2.2.12 Reset Command

The “

reset

” command causes the GDL 90 to perform a software restart. This command can be used after

modifying the APM settings to restart the GDL 90 and make the new settings active.

4.2.2.13 Rxdata Command

The “

rxdata

” command displays information about the received UAT radio messages. The command

options are shown in the following chart.

Summary/Details/Off

SUMMARY = Display a count of the number of
each type of message received in each second.

DETAILS = Display detailed information about
each message received.

OFF = stop outputting rxdata status

Example: Summary of UAT messages received in last second:

Ground Uplinks Received: 2

This example shows that in the last second, there were 10 ADS-B Basic messages received, 5 ADS-B
Long messages received, and two Uplink messages received from a UAT ground station. This command
is useful to verify whether UAT messages are being received.

The detailed report includes the specific values for each data element in a received UAT message.
