Collecting Additional Information

This section contains a summary of the messages produced by the “service” and “external” Maintenance
port commands. Some brief comments are included for each group of commands that may help in
troubleshooting efforts.

5.2.1

Messages for Service Command

The “service” command can produce Messages 001 up to 059.

"MSG 001: Invalid messages from Radio Controller"

"MSG 002: No messages from Radio Controller."

"MSG 003: No response from Radio Controller."

Comment:

These messages indicate a problem with the internal radio

assembly. Contact the factory.

"MSG 004: Invalid transmit processing time."

Comment:

This indicates a temporary software timing limitation. There

is no need to contact the factory unless the problem is persistent.

"MSG 005: Invalid ownship transmit loopback."

Comment:

This indicates a connection problem between the UAT

transmitter and receiver. Contact the factory.

"MSG 006: Transmit output power failure."

"MSG 007: No PLL lock indication.”

Comment:

Persistent occurrence of these messages indicates a problem

with the internal radio assembly. Contact the factory.

"MSG 008: NVRAM battery low."

Comment:

The GDL 90 internal battery needs to be replaced. Contact

the factory.

"MSG 009: APM map version is old."

Comment:

The GDL 90 software is a newer version than the APM was

configured with. The “APMinit” procedure should be used to update the
APM map, and correct any undefined settings.

"MSG 010: APM Invalid Product ID."

"MSG 011: Invalid value in the APM ICAO address field."

"MSG 012: Invalid value in the APM Aircraft Category field."

"MSG 013: Invalid value in the APM antenna mode field."

"MSG 014: Invalid value in the APM grounded antenna field."

"MSG 015: APM CRC check has failed."

"MSG 016: Receive invalid messages from APM."

Comment:

These messages all indicate a problem with the APM data

contents. Contact the factory.
