6.3.8.5 GPS Position Check (Installations using a GPS Antenna Interfaced to the
G5)
This test must be conducted outside, as the use of a GPS repeater inside a hangar may result in a failed
test.
1.
Apply power to the aircraft and aircraft systems and allow the aircraft systems to initialize and the
G5(s) to acquire sufficient satellites for a GPS solution.
2.
Enter configuration mode on the G5 Attitude indicator and the G5 HSI if the optional GPS
antenna is interfaced, and navigate to the GPS Configuration Page.
3.
Ensure a valid GPS position fix is obtained by monitoring the GPS status. The following status
indications are valid fixes for this test.

3D GPS
•
3D DIFFERENTIAL
6.3.8.6 GPS Position Check (Installations using a GPS Navigator(s) Interfaced to
the G5)
This test must be conducted outside, as the use of a GPS repeater inside a hangar may result in a failed
test. This test must be performed twice if the G5 is interfaced to two GPS navigators.
1.
Apply power to the aircraft and aircraft systems and allow the aircraft systems to initialize and the
GPS Navigator to acquire sufficient satellites for a GPS solution.
2.
If installed with two GPS navigators, on a G5 select GPS1 as the navigation source.
3.
On the G5 Attitude display, verify the following;
•
Ground Track display (if not interfaced to a GMU 11)
•
Ground speed field
4.
On the G5 HSI display, verify the following;
•
Ground Track display (if not interfaced to a GMU 11, indicated by magenta numbers
indicating GPS ground track.
•
Ground speed field
•
Current track bug
5.
Repeat using GPS2 as the navigation source (if interfaced).
