Receiving Faxes
There are two reception modes: Auto Receive and Manual Receive.
In the Auto Receive mode, the machine receives a fax from a remote machine
automatically.
In the Manual Receive mode, the machine receives a fax from a remote machine
manually. This mode allows you to confirm the sender, or to use an external telephone
to talk to the caller before receiving the fax.
The Fax Receiving Mode default value can be changed in the System Administration mode. For
information on how to change the default values, refer to "Fax Control" (P.111).
Switching between Auto Receive and Manual Receive
1
Press the <Machine Status> button.
2
Select [Fax Receiving Mode] on
the [Machine Status] screen.
3
Select [Manual Receive] or [Auto
Receive].
Manual Receive
Allows you to manually receive a fax sent from a remote machine. This mode is
convenient when you want to confirm the sender or use an external telephone to talk
to the caller before receiving the fax.
Auto Receive
Automatically receives a fax sent from a remote machine.
Using Auto Receive
When the machine is in the Auto Receive mode, it automatically answers incoming
calls and receives documents.
Note
• You can specify the duration of how long the machine is going to ring when there is an
incoming call. While the machine is ringing, you can pick up the telephone and talk to the
caller if the call is from a telephone, or you can receive the fax manually if the call is from a
fax machine.
