Advanced Features
You can set the polling and on-hook features in the [Advanced Features] screen. The
following shows the reference section for each feature.

Note
• The items displayed on the [Advanced Features] screen vary depending on the features
enabled on the machine. No items are available for the Server Fax feature.
Polling (Retrieving Documents from Remote Machines)
Polling is a feature that allows your machine to retrieve documents stored on a remote
machine. You are charged for the transmission fee.
This feature is used for Facsimile Information Services.
For information on Facsimile Information Services, refer to "Receiving Faxes" (P.85).
Note
• Depending on the remote machine, the Polling feature may be unavailable.
• This feature is not available for Fax Server.
• When you specify polling in combination with [Delayed Start] on the [Transmission Options]
screen, you can retrieve a document at a specified time.
Polling
You can retrieve documents stored on a remote machine by sending instructions from
your machine. You can retrieve documents from multiple machines. This process is
known as Multi-Polling.
Private Polling (DTMF Method)
You can retrieve documents from a mailbox on a remote machine by sending a request
from your machine. A mailbox must be registered on the remote machine. The
documents stored in the mailbox can be transmitted without others seeing it if a
password is set.
Important • You cannot use polling to retrieve documents from multiple remote mailboxes
simultaneously.
