6. Insure that steps 8 through 10 under BASEPLATES (OR SOLEPLATES) IN TRAIN above

are complete before grouting.

3.3 INSTALLING NOZZLE EXTENSIONS AND GROUTING

3.3.1 GROUTING WITH CEMENT AND SAND

A suitable grout mixture consists of one part Portland cement and one part coarse, clean sand by
weight. Generally 1.75 to 2 gal. (6 to 8 liters) of clean water for each 100 lb. (45 kg) of mix is
sufficient to make the mix placeable. The actual amount of water required to make a placeable mix
may vary slightly. Use of the following procedure will help to assure proper grouting.

1. According to your installation, verify:

a. that soleplates have been separated from cradle and pump, leveled, and aligned as

described in INSTALLING BASEPLATES OR SOLEPLATES;

b. that driving units (i.e., motor, fluid drive, gear, clutch, etc.) have been removed from

baseplate which has been leveled (aligned too, if necessary) as described in
INSTALLING BASEPLATES OR SOLEPLATES.

2. Build a suitable wooden form similar to that illustrated by GROUTING SOLEPLATES OR

BASEPLATE figure below. To keep form from floating, anchor securely and shore around
the applicable plate.

3. Remove water and waste material that may have collected in the foundation bolt holes.

4. Clean off and dampen foundation slab.

5. Wrap cloth around leveling screws to cover threads, thereby leaving space for loosening the

leveling screws.

NOTE

Proper practice is to begin grouting lowest compartment,
which is normally at pump end of baseplate, and progress in
order to highest compartment, which is normally at driver
end of baseplate.
