a. Using micrometers to measure diameter of bore at each end of pressure reducing sleeve

and the corresponding diameter of shaft, then,

b. Comparing diameter of bore of pressure reducing sleeve with the corresponding diameter

of shaft; diameter of bore of drum shall be slightly smaller than corresponding diameter
of shaft by amount given in OPERATING SPECIFICATIONS.

NOTE

If the fit of an impeller or the pressure reducing sleeve with
the shaft is not as given in the OPERATING
SPECIFICATIONS, contact your nearest Flowserve Sales
Office for recommendations concerning your particular
circumstance (see PART ORDERING AND SERVICING
INFORMATION).

6.5.2.6.5 Checking Concentricity Of Rotating Assembly

Whenever the internal assembly has been dismantled, the concentricity of the rotating assembly (see
ASSEMBLY drawing) must be verified before assembly. To vertically assemble the rotating
assembly, proceed as follows:

1. Assure yourself that you have complied with the instructions above under the headings:

a. CLEANING,

b. VISUAL INSPECTION,

c. CHECKING RUNNING CLEARANCES

d. CHECKING SHAFT STRAIGHTNESS, and,

e. CHECKING FIT OF IMPELLERS AND BALANCING DRUM WITH SHAFT.

2. Before starting to assemble parts, see paragraph titled STAGE NUMBER SYSTEM AND

BALANCED PARTS above, for a description of the impeller, impeller key, and split ring
numbering system.

NOTE

If impellers are equipped with wearing rings, see that rings
are completely installed ; rotor shall be assembled as it is to
operate in the pump.

3. Assemble rotor:

a. Install rotating parts only on shaft.

b. Use instructions and sequence from PUMP ASSEMBLY: INTERNAL ASSEMBLY

below.

4. Wrap nylon lifting strap around shaft between first and second-stage impellers, and attach

hoist. Using both hoists, tip rotor until it is horizontal. Place bearing surfaces in soft-faced
V-blocks (or equivalent) .
