Accumulator (German abbreviation Akku). Rechargeable. Used like any
battery.

Reference area

A portion of the significant surface area of a product where one or more
measurements are to be taken. It is recommended to include the refer-
ence area or significant surface area in the production specifications, in
addition to the specifications limits for the



-ferrite content.

Reference sample

Reference sample

Probability chart (Gaussian probability paper, sum frequency chart, probability
paper)

Can be used to check graphically for normal distribution of the measure-
ments. A straight line in the normal probability chart indicates normal
distribution.

Probe

The instrument receives the electrical probe signal, which is proportional
to the



-ferrite content measured, from the probe. The probe signal is

then converted by means of the calibration curve into the ferrite content
reading. The FISCHER probes are equipped with a memory chip (EE-
PROM) in the probe plug. The EEPROM stores probe-specific informa-
tion (e.g., probe type, manufacturing code, test method and coefficients
of the master calibration curve).
