- Must burn torch/firepit in proper holder on a heat resistant surface away from flammable material.
- Torches/firepits with a ground support peg must be sufficiently fixed into the ground.
- To operate the torch/firepit we recommend only the use of FIAP LampGel (art. No. 2518).
- Caution: Item gets hot! Do not touch whilst in use!
- Caution: Allow the torch/firepit to cool down for at least 15 minutes before refilling. Do not pour burning gel into the
hot torch/ firepit!
Extinguish:
- Never extinguish the flame with water!
- If possible let the flame burn out completely. The combustibility of the gel decreases when stored inside the
torch/firepit for a longer period.
- Extinguish the flame by covering it with the snuffer. Wait until the flame is fully extinguished. Allow 15 minutes for
the gel and torch/ firepit to cool down before touching the product.
Maintenance:
- Remainders of the gel can be removed with warm water and dish washing liquid. If needed soak the relevant parts
in warm water and dish washing liquid.
- ATTENTION: Remainders of burning gel is hazardous waste and must not be disposed of in any sink or toilet. It
must not get into sewage water. Only dispose of burning gel or remainders thereof at your local hazardous waste col-
lection facility.
Cleaning:
- Finger marks on surface finishes made of stainless steel can be removed with a damp microfibre cleaning cloth.
- Clean your FIAP product as required with warm water and if necessary a little pH-neutral washing-up liquid.
- Rub dry with a lint-free cloth in the direction of the matt finish in order to prevent stains from forming.
2.1. Maximum capacities of the empty torch
300 ml/10.1 fl. oz. FireDisk, FireSphere
350 ml/11.8 fl. oz. FireStick
500 ml/16.9 fl. oz. FireCone
3. Instructions for use
DANGER! Never use any fuel, gasoline, alcohol, thinners or any other flammable liquid to operate the torch. Risk of
deflagration!
CAUTION! Only fill the torch up to the max level meter and when the torch is a cooled off state.
3.1. Purpose
This is a lamp oil fuelled torch, equipped with a glass fibre wick. This torch is equipped with a childproof safety closing
mechanism and a safety wick holder and meets the standards set out in the EN 14059:2003-01. We recommend to
only use quality lamp oil such as the original FIAP lamp oil (art.-no. 2519) which has been specially developed for
blomus torches and, providing a correct trimming of the wick, will burn with a firm and soot free flame.
wicks. For further accessories and spare parts please refer to the chart in § 5.
3.2. Filling and lighting the torch
ATTENTION! Fill the torch up to the level meter. Underfilling may lead to smaller flame. Do not overfill. Remove all
packaging material prior to operating the torch. Tape which is installed at the upper end of the wick must carefully be
removed before lighting. The tape installed at the lower end of the wick must not be removed. The wick is already
installed into the wick holder. For best results we recommend to trim it so it reaches out of the tube holding the wick
for about 3-5 mm / 0.1 – 0.2 inches (see illustration). The wick must never reach out more than 8 mm / 0.3 inches
(about midway up the wick holder) as the wick might then be within the reach of children. To fill the torch press the
wick holder down and turn it anticlockwise about a quarter turn until it is unlocked. The safety closing mechanism is
now open and the lid can be removed. To do this hold the torch body with one hand and use the other to carefully lift
the lid. For filling you may rest the wick with the lid on the edge of the torch body. Fill in the original FIAP lamp oil up
to the level meter. After filling reattach the lid onto the torch body. Make sure the gasket is not squeezed or bruised.
Press the lid down and turn it clockwise until it is locked again. If oil is spilled it must be wiped off with a cloth which
then must be disposed of in accordance to your local guidelines. If you can not dispose of it immediately make sure to
store it out of the reach of infants, children and pets.

3.3. Adjusting the wick
Check the adjustment of the wick before lighting the torch. The ideal adjustment is 3-5 mm /0.1 – 0.2 inches as
shown. The appearance of soot indicates a too high adjustment, if the flame burns too low the wick might be adjusted
too low. Adjust the wick as necessary. After while the upper end of the wick might show signs of glazing. If so please
trim the wick about 1-2 cm /0.4 – 0.8 inches and readjust to the correct positioning.
3.4. Lighting the torch
The torch should be lighted immediately after filling. If oil is spilled it must be wiped off with a cloth which then must
be disposed of in accordance to your local guidelines. Light the torch using a stick lighter. If the flame burns uneasy
or if soot appears, extinguish the flame and check the wick adjustment. Keep the wick clean and trim as needed.
3.5. Extinguishing the torch
DANGER! Never blow out the flame. Use a snuffer. Blowing it out may result in a darting flame and oil may be spilled
out.
3.5. Emptying the torch and disposal of the lamp oil
Let the torch burn out completely whenever possible. If you do not use the torch for a while make sure to remove any
leftover of lamp oil from the torch by pouring it back into the lamp oil canister or a suitable empty vessel. Should you
need to dispose of lamp oil, fill it into a sealed container and dispose of it in accordance to local, state or government
regulations. Lamp oil must not be disposed of into domestic sewage (toilet, sink etc).
4. Disposal
All packaging material should be correctly sorted prior to disposal. Please recycle all materials. In case you wish to
dispose of the product please obey federal, state or local regulations. If you are unsure how to properly dispose of the
product, or any product, please contact your local authorised waste management site.
