7 Verify that the following items are included in the shipping carton:

BlackDiamond 8806 chassis with four installed blank front panels
•
Power cord retainer
•
19-inch support bracket
•
BlackDiamond documentation pack with ESD-preventive wrist strap
Note
Save all packaging, clip locks, and box pieces for future use in the event that the
BlackDiamond 8806 chassis must be moved to another location or returned to Extreme
Networks.
Pre-installation Requirements
A 19-inch support bracket is provided with the chassis. In addition to the bracket, you need the
following tools and equipment to install the BlackDiamond 8800 Series chassis:
•
12 rack-mount screws appropriate for your rack system
•
4 screws to attach the support bracket
•
8 screws to secure the chassis in the rack
The screw size will vary based on your organization’s rack system; screws are not provided.

Screwdriver that fits the rack-mounting screws you will use
Use the front-mount brackets on the chassis for a front-mount rack installation. For a mid-mount
installation, obtain one of the following optional kits from Extreme Networks:
•
BlackDiamond 8806 mid-mount kit, part number 65046, or
•
BlackDiamond 8810 mid-mount kit, Model 41141
The mid-mount kits include screws for attaching the brackets to the chassis. These screws require a #2
Phillips screwdriver.
Attaching the Mid-Mount Brackets
The BlackDiamond 8800 Series chassis has attached rack-mounting flanges for a front-mount rack
installation. To install the chassis in a mid-mount position in the rack, attach the optional mid-mount
brackets as described in this section.
Caution
The BlackDiamond 8806 chassis weighs almost 65 pounds., and the BlackDiamond 8810
chassis weighs almost 80 pounds. Proper lifting and moving of the chassis requires two
people.
To attach the mid-mount brackets:
1 Set the empty chassis in an upright position on a secure, flat surface.
