Information on the use of NFC-compatible smartphones 

>

 

Note that exclusively NFC-compatible smartphones that have been tested by EVVA 
are recommended for use as media. For a list of recommended NFC-compatible 
smartphones for AirKey go to

Always make sure the battery level of your NFC-compatible smartphone is sufficient 
as the AirKey app locking function can be guaranteed only if the smartphone is 
switched on and active. 

>

 

If the locking component is added to your system using an NFC-compatible 
smartphone with AirKey app and activated maintenance mode, the system automati-
cally grants a temporary authorisation for this smartphone to the corresponding lock-
ing component. Important: said authorisation is valid for a maximum of four hours. 
Please ensure that the corresponding authorisation is extended in due time to suit the 
requirements.

We explicitly recommend to activate the AirKey app PIN code if you are using an NFC-
compatible smartphone as a medium. Instruct users of electronic locking systems to 
never disclose this PIN code. 

>

 

A stable Internet connection is required on site if you use an NFC-compatible 
smartphone to update media or locking components. Please note that data transfers 
may incur costs. 

 

Battery use 

>

 

Note that lock cylinder operation is permitted using type CR2 batteries only. Do not 
use rechargeable batteries. Please ask your specialist retailer for a list of recom-
mended battery models. 

>

 

We recommend to have batteries replaced by trained, specialist personnel only. 

>

 

Replace batteries in due time, as soon as the lock cylinder indicates "Battery low". 
Repeatedly disregarding the "Battery empty" warning may cause cylinder malfunc-
tions. At normal ambient temperatures, the first "Battery empty" warning indicates 
that up to 1,000 actuations are still possible within the next 4 weeks. Temperatures 
deviating from normal ambient temperatures may cause the cylinder to prematurely 
fail. If the batteries are empty, it is exclusively possible to operate the cylinder using 
the emergency power device (optional accessory). 

>

 

Always replace all batteries used in the corresponding lock cylinder! Use the dedicat-
ed AirKey cylinder assembly tool to assemble or disassemble the thumb turn (also 
when replacing batteries). We recommend to pair up the lock cylinder using an au-
thorised medium before removing the batteries. If applicable, you may be required to 
update the time of the cylinder after having replaced the batteries.

Store batteries in a cool, dry location. Exposure to direct, strong heat may damage 
batteries. For this reason, do not expose battery-operated devices to strong heat 
sources.
