2.1.2
AirKey wall reader
AirKey wall readers are suitable for indoors and outdoors, surface-mounted or flush in-
stallation and for areas critical to security.
Please use the dedicated seal enclosed with the product for use outdoors or in areas that
are exposed to water as well as in the event of surface-mounted installation and observe
the information in the assembly manual.
AirKey wall readers are connected to the AirKey control unit using CAT5 cables (max. 100
m, Rloop max. = 2 Ohm) to supply them with power. The AirKey control unit is supplied
with power by the mains adapter and in the event of a power cut it features a data buffer
for a maximum of 72h, providing the AirKey control unit had previously been in operation
for a minimum of six hours.
Please note that one AirKey control unit each is required to operate one
AirKey wall reader.
AirKey wall reader and control unit combinations can be used to operate electronic lock-
ing elements, such as motorised cylinders, sliding and swinging doors, etc.
Please check carefully to make sure the AirKey product you selected is suitable for your
intended application/assembly situation. We have made the required data sheet or as-
sembly manual available in the download section of our homepage:
2.2
Maintenance
Two CR2 batteries are required to operate each AirKey cylinder. We recommend you ex-
clusively use spare parts supplied by EVVA and replace the seals enclosed in the battery
replacement set each time you replace the batteries to continue to guarantee the IP pro-
tection class.
This safeguards compliance with the assured AirKey cylinder performance characteristics
(battery life, IP protection class and permissible temperature range).
Cylinder seals must be replaced by trained personnel after two years at the latest. The
durability of the seals depends on component use and the installation environment, i.e.
the service life will be shorter in environments affected by direct sunlight or in hot, cold
and dusty environments, etc. Immediately replace seals upon identifying any damage,
such as cracks, deformation or atypical appearance to continue to guarantee the corre-
sponding IP protection. EVVA recommends to always have the seals replaced by trained
personnel as part of battery replacements. Any regular, statutory inspections of the lock-
ing components must be carried out as per the local regulations applicable in the country
of installation (e.g. escape doors).
