Remote socket
The Remote socket on the front panel of the FDX2000 (Submin-D, 15 pin) serves to connect an external
controller (PC, RS-232).

FDX2000 – PC adapter
In order to connect the Remote socket of the FDX2000 (Submin-D 15) to the COM connector of the PC
(Submin-D 9), an adapter is required.
The connection to the PC via remote socket is only necessary, if there is no network
connection.

The RS-232 PC interface is to RS-485 in the
FDX2000 and is located on the rear of the
device as COM4. When using this interface
from a PC, you should ensure the bias
voltage provides for a safe Idle state in
communication breaks. The two bridges in the
adapter serve this purpose:
Pin 7 to Pin 14,
Pin 8 to Pin 15.
DMX plug-in connector
The 5 pin XLR plug-in connectors DMX IN A and DMX OUT A are switched in parallel, as are DMX IN B
and DMX OUT B. DMX lines 1 and 2 are reversed between DMX A and DMX B. So, for example, two
incoming DMX lines (to DMX IN A and DMX IN B) can be merged in a single outgoing cable (by
DMX OUT B).
When installing a DMX system be careful to ensure that the cabling is strictly linear, that
there are no branches and that the final device is correctly terminated. Unconnected
DMX outputs should each be provided by an adequate termination connector ( with 100-
Ω
resistor between pins 2 and 3 and between pins 4 and 5).
