Fault Messages
If a fault condition occurs in the printer, the status lamps on the control panel
flash on and off and the message display indicates the specific fault. Fault
messages are summarized in Table 6–1.
Displayed faults fall into one of two categories:
•
Operator correctable
•
Field service required
For the operator–correctable faults, follow the suggested corrective action in
the fault message description. After correcting the displayed fault, press the
CLEAR key to clear the error message and status lamps, then press ONLINE
to resume printing. If the fault message reappears, contact your Digital
Customer Service Engineer.
NOTE: The LG
plus
Series Maintenance Manual provides more detailed
information and procedures for resolving fault conditions. However,
many of the procedures described should be performed only by your
Digital Customer Service Engineer.
Fault Messages Requiring Field Service Attention
For more serious faults that are not correctable by an operator, the fault
message is followed by an asterisk (*). This indicates that a Digital Customer
Service Engineer will probably be needed. You may try two steps to clear the
fault before you call your Digital Customer Service Engineer:
1. Set the printer power switch to O (off), wait 15 seconds, then turn the
printer on again. Run your print job again. If the message does not
appear, it was a false indication and no further attention is required.
2. If the message reappears, press the CLEAR key, then the ONLINE key.
If the message goes away, it was a false indication and no further
attention is required. If the message reappears, call your Digital
Customer Service Engineer.
