Dell EMC recommends the deployment of the VCSA. However both the VCSA and VMware vCenter for
Windows are supported with ELM.
Ensure that the AMP server(s) have network connectivity and sufficient resources to meet any additional
workload. This occurs after delivery and implementation. A redundant AMP is recommended.
VMware vSphere 6.0 PSC High Availability requires a load balancer. Load Balancers are not used with
the Converged System. During deployment, a VMware vCenter must be associated with a local PSC. In
the event of a PSC failure, the VMware vCenter must be manually repointed to a secondary PSC.
Standard VMware vSphere 6.0 design for a Converged System includes one VMware vCenter server and
a minimum of two PSCs.
For best performance, split multiple VMware vCenter servers between PSCs in the same physical
Converged System or physical data center.
At minimum, ELM requires IP connectivity for the ESXI management VLANs between the Converged
Systems joined in an ELM configuration. You must validate IP connectivity between the two VMware
vSphere 6.0 vcesys_esx_mgmt VLANs and verify that all required protocols and ports are allowed on any
firewalls between the two vcesys_esx_mgmt VLANs.

Refer to the following VMware KB article for additional information for VMware vSphere 6.0:
VMware vSphere 6.0 management traffic must have its QoS marking extended across any metro or WAN
links connecting separate physical data centers.
VMware vSphere 6.0 ELM configurations must use consistent IP MTU sizes with physical and logical
network switches and VMkernel ports.
VMware ELM scalability planning
Determine the number of PSCs and VMware vCenter servers that are needed for an ELM configuration
with VMware vSphere 6.0 in a SSO Domain and SSO site.
Complete an ELM scalability assessment to determine if the requested number of PSCs and VMware
vCenter servers is compatible with VMware vSphere 6.0 configuration maximum limits. Refer to the
following link for the latest VMware vSphere 6.0 ELM configuration maximums:
https://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere6/r60/vsphere-60-configuration-maximums.pdf
The following table provides the ELM with VMware vSphere 6.0 SSO configuration maximum limitations:
Parameter
Value
Maximum number of linked VMware vCenter servers per SSO
Domain
10
Maximum number of PSCs per VMware vSphere domain
8
Maximum number of PSCs per site, behind a load balancer
4
PSC management limits
