7.3 Appendix C: Entering Alphanumeric and Special Characters
This section describes how to enter digits, upper and lower case alphabets, and
special characters using the GLV-540 keypad.
7.3.1
Key Mode
There are two key pad modes, Numeric or Alphanumeric. User can select the
key pad mode for dialing screens, like off hook/on hook dialing or dialing the
transfer target number, dialing the conference number or dialing the forward
number. The mode can be set from GUI or the function key on LCD.
7.3.2
Entering Digits

Press any digit key once to enter the corresponding digit.
Example:
To enter 4, press key 4 once.
7.3.3
Entering Small Letters & Capital Letters
Press a digit key multiple times to enter the characters mapped to that key.
Both small letters and capital letters and numeric digits are mapped to same
key, for e.g. Numeric key “2” has “2”, “a”, “b”, “c”, “A”, “B”, “C” mapped to it
in the same sequence. To enter small letter “a”, press the key twice and to
enter “A” press the key 5 times. The alphabetic and numeric keys mapped to
a key are mentioned on the key. “*” and “#” does not have any other
characters mapped to it.

Entering Special Characters
In GLV-540 special characters are mapped to numeric keys “1” and “0”. The
characters mapped are “

”. The keys
are mapped in the same sequence as given above, the first character being
“1” or “0”.
